“We’re like one big family”

Community holds different meanings for different people, but it’s always at the heart of what we do at Jessie’s Centre.

For over 40 years, Jessie’s has been a welcoming community for young pregnant and parenting women. Many first come to us to access practical resources, but the lifelong relationships they and their children build here are just as essential to their well-being and future. For many, Jessie’s is their second home - and that’s the true power of community.

In the context of a housing crisis that shows no signs of stopping, and widespread food security challenges, we remain realistic as a staff team about the challenges that face our participants, and optimistic about our ability to ensure our program is sustainable for the families while we are serving while having the space needed as more pregnant people and families seek us out for support. Our Annual Report speaks to the challenges our participants have faced over the last year and how we have been there, every time, to offer them a space where their experiences are honoured and where care is consistent and reliable.
