JESSIE’S NEEDS A NEW FRIDGE.

One of our fridges is on its last legs. It doesn’t owe anyone, anything: we’ve had it for years, and last year, our fridges held enough fresh food to support 10,427 snacks, lunches and dinners for more than 400 pregnant and parenting young women and their children. We are on track to beat that number this year because the rising cost of food means that our participants are relying more on Jessie’s for the free meals we offer when they are on site.

Everything we raise over and above the $3,000 needed to replace the fridge will support food and nutrition programs at Jessie’s and the other life-stabilizing supports that we offer pregnant and parenting young women so that they can achieve their full potential as parents and as members of their community.

Young women like Alexia, who is 21. Alexia attended our on-site high school to complete her diploma, and her daughter Violet loves to come to the Parent Child Centre to play with her friends. Alexia still attends groups here at Jessie’s and has developed close friendships with other young parents and their children. With Violet in senior kindergarten - she’s five - Alexia is ready to think about her own next steps to pursue her many interests and passions around healthcare and wellness and climate change. Whatever does not “go into the fridge” goes into everything else that supports young women and their choices.

Thank you for supporting pregnant and parenting young women! We deeply appreciate your care.
