Development Associate

Position Type: Full-time, Permanent

Part-time hours: 35 per week (Monday-Friday)

Salary: $70,000 - $80,000

Work Location: In person

Jessie’s – The June Callwood Centre for Young Women (Jessie’s) is a multi-service resource Centre for pregnant young women, young parents, and their children. Jessie’s works to include a broad spectrum of services addressing issues related to the social determinants of health. Jessie’s operates from a feminist perspective and is a pro-choice organization that supports a woman’s right to make choices about their sexual health and pregnancy options.

Jessie’s is seeking a passionate and driven Development Associate to join our team. The successful candidate will play a crucial role in supporting and executing fundraising strategies to ensure the financial sustainability and growth of our organization

Reporting: the Development Associate reports to the Executive Director.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  1. Grant Writing and Management:

  • Research and identify potential grant opportunities aligned with the organization's mission.

  • Write compelling grant proposals, applications, and reports.

  • Manage grant submission timelines and requirements.

2. Donor Relations:

  • Cultivate and maintain relationships with individual, corporate, and foundation donors.

  • Assist in the development and implementation of donor stewardship programs.

  • Respond to donor inquiries and provide regular updates on projects, impact, and initiatives.

  • Identify and outreach to new potential donors and diversify revenue streams

3. Campaign Development and Implementation:

  • Develop and execute strategic campaign plans for individual, corporate, and foundation giving.

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure alignment with organizational goals and priorities.

  • Utilize data-driven insights to assess campaign effectiveness and make recommendations for improvement.

4. Web Content and Online Presence:

  • Develop and manage engaging web content to attract and retain online donors.

  • Ensure the organization's website is updated with relevant and compelling fundraising information.

  • Implement strategies to enhance the organization's online presence.

5. Database Management:

  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date donor records in the organization's database.

  • Generate reports and analyses to track fundraising progress and donor trends.

6. Reporting:

  • Generate regular reports on fundraising performance, providing insights and recommendations for optimization.

7. Collaboration:

  • Work closely with the Executive Director to create compelling materials for donor outreach.

  • Collaborate with the Director of Programs & Operations to gather information and success stories for fundraising efforts.

Qualifications:

To be considered for this role, you should meet the following qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in a related field (e.g., Non-profit Management, Business Administration, Communications).

  • Proven experience in grant writing, fundraising, or related fields.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

  • Strong organizational and time-management abilities.

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and donor management software.

  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team.

Skills and Abilities:

  • Strong interpersonal skills, with the ability to build and maintain relationships.

  • Knowledge of fundraising software and CRM systems.

  • Strong research abilities to identify potential donors, funding opportunities, and relevant information for proposal development.

  • Experience using online platforms for research, communication, and virtual collaboration.

  • Analytical mindset with the ability to interpret data and make strategic recommendations.

  • Highly organized with excellent project management skills.

  • Ability to learn quickly and stay informed about industry trends and best practices.

  • Commitment to the mission and values of the organization.

Assets:

  • Experience using Keela to manage donors
